We have a lot of absolutely incredible looking open-world action RPGs coming – Wuthering Waves, Project Mugen, Azur Promilia, Arknights Endfield. What we don’t have enough of, are incredible looking smaller-scale RPGs. Which is where Chaos Zero Nightmare – also being referred to as Epic 8 comes in.
Chaos Zero Nightmare is described as being a cosmic loop RPG, set in a post-apocalyptic world where the only survivors are forced to flee Earth due to the Chaos Zero Project. After failing 15 rescue missions, they turn to us, with the fate of mankind resting on our shoulders.

According to the official Youtube channel, there’s a World Preview Trailer to check out – with a flower growing out of the eye socket of one of the Waifu’s. That’s a little disconcerting.
Confirmed platforms are PC, Android and iOS. At least according to the Japanese Twitter account. The Global Twitter doesn’t have this information available – yes, we’re getting this Globally, at some point in the 2nd half of 2024, and yes, the Japanese Twitter, much like Japanese gamers, is just much better prepared than we are.

According to sources online, Chaos Zero Nightmare is being developed by Super Creative, with Kim Hyeong-seok, the creator of Epic Seven, being in charge of development, devoting all of his time and resources into turning Zero Nightmare into a next-generation IP.
Chaos Zero Nightmare is a collectible RPG – meaning you collect Waifu’s like you do snacks. There are numerous game modes confirmed to be present – roguelike – in the form of procedurally generated dungeons, turn-based gameplay, grid-based movement, drawing from a variety of different genres, in an attempt to offer players a unique game experience. Or one riddled with too much.

One interesting little facet of information is that it was confirmed – and I’m not sure how this is going to function – but there is a game mode that can result in the permanent death of your character. You can actually die. I can’t imagine that being very fun if you invest a lot of money into it. I wonder if you can avoid this?

The game is going to be a fully 2D game as opposed to 3D like Wuthering Waves or Genshin. But that works, as the studio is known for producing some incredible 2D artwork and great quality cinematics. Interestingly, Chaos Zero Nightmare is confirmed to be releasing Globally – all across the world, in the second half of 2024. Meaning it’s going to have to potentially compete with Zenless. Wuthering Waves. Azur Promilia. Depending on the month of release. Thankfully it’s a very different type of game so overlap shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Smilegate, the studio that publishes Lost Ark and Epic 7 is in charge of publishing the game, and has already opened official social media channels to begin the distribution of information leading up to its release. Additional trailers are expected in the next month.
Currently, a Closed Beta is not available, but you can pre-register in anticipation of one if you’re interested. I have a link to that down below.

Ultimately, this looks pretty damn sick. But also concerning. I’m excited, because I think Epic 7 is a very fun game and I can’t wait to see what the studio does with this.

Now if Chaos Zero Nightmare isn’t a game that is of any interest to you, absolutely no problem, I got you covered with 2 videos on screen right now that might be more up your alley.
