This might be one of the most disgusting stories of abuse you’ve read in the Gacha scene, with developers working FOR FREE for almost HALF A YEAR, getting taken TO COURT, and then shipping the game (both in CN and Globally) with the knowledge that the game was already in trouble. Which is a horrible shame, because this is a VERY good game.
Here’s the full situation.

ALLfiring is a side-scrolling action RPG/brawler with a distinctive voxel + chibi art style, real-time switching between three companions, exploration, platforming, and a pretty good Gacha system. It was developed by Shanghai Yuelongyin Network Technology Co., Ltd. (上海月胧吟网络科技有限公司, also known as DIMCROON). Early on it received investment from Papergames (叠纸), the company behind Love and Deepspace and Infinity Nikki.

2019–2021

The studio dropped a very striking early PV. It stood out hard in the crowded Chinese anime-style game (二游) scene because of its unique pixel/voxel look. This made Yuelongyin a “dark horse” and attracted venture capital, including an equity stake from Papergames.

2022–2024

The team kept restarting the project in pursuit of higher quality. They fully scrapped and rebuilt the game three times, including a major shift from 2D toward a more 3D voxel/sandbox direction. Development costs ballooned, the timeline stretched endlessly, and key people (including the lead art director) left.

November 28, 2025

Chinese open beta / full-platform launch. By this point the company was already in serious financial trouble. Employees had started going unpaid months earlier. The launch version had noticeable bugs (one particularly bad one involved the game opening the user’s payment app in the background).

Late January 2026

(right before Chinese New Year) A former employee posted publicly on Xiaohongshu exposing that the company had withheld salaries and social security contributions for the entire staff for at least four months. Multiple attempts to contact finance and management got no real response. Court records also showed the company had multiple new enforcement cases (judgment debtor records) in Shanghai’s Jing’an District court in January alone, totaling over 650,000 RMB, mostly related to labor and contract disputes.

While existing staff weren’t being paid, the studio was still actively posting job openings on recruitment platforms. In the Chinese game industry, companies collapsing and stiffing workers is common.
What was relatively rare here is that the team still managed to ship the game while everyone was working for free. The Chinese version underperformed commercially after the initial curiosity wave.
The global version launched in mid-May 2026 under GENMUGAME. It received better store ratings (around 4.8), but it got almost no marketing push and remains extremely niche, with a complete lack of visibility.
These devs deserve better. ALLfiring players deserve better.
