Rewinding Cadence (Chinese: 归环 / Gui Huan) is an upcoming free-to-play open-world action RPG (ARPG) with gacha elements, developed and published by Saroasis Studios (a Tencent subsidiary). It features hand-drawn 2D anime-style visuals, time-loop mechanics inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and tabletop (Dungeons and Dragons inspired) RPG influences.
Combat is fast-paced, fluid real-time ARPG action (many people have directly compared it to Wuthering Waves in style). It features fast, fluid, flashy combos, dodges, parries, skills, cinematic camera work, and beautiful visual effects. You fight alongside spirit companions (Eidolons) that have unique fighting styles and abilities. You’ll cultivate/level them up, as they directly affect your gameplay.
The game leans heavily into Dungeons & Dragons-style elements, especially through D20 dice rolls triggered by dialogue choices, key decisions, and interactions. These introduce a type of tabletop-style randomness, chance-based outcomes, and branching narratives – exactly like rolling for persuasion, insight, or event resolution in a D&D campaign. Quests have meaningful consequences that carry across loops, evoking the replayability and moral/strategic depth of D&D adventures.
The game is in pre-registration in China (for Android via TapTap/BiliBili, with PC and global/iOS versions planned), and it recently had a closed beta test (not public.)
There is currently no official Global release date, but it is speculated to be releasing in 2027, with additional Beta tests in 2026.
