This has been a crazy month. We’ve had several Gacha games announce their closure – to the surprise of many. Punishing Gray Raven rolled out their English Dub. Genshin had some drama with their voice actors.
I actually played a month of Tower of Fantasy and did a dedicated video on my experience. Snowbreak absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. And tons of new Gacha games were announced.
And while I’ve covered every single one of these in detail – and I urge you to go ahead and check those out, nothing is more important than knowing how our favorite Gacha games are doing.
Gacha games are always fluctuating. Whether a game is doing good or bad is entirely dependent on what banner is currently available, what content was recently released, and what the competition is doing.
With this in mind, I’ve taken on the responsibility to report on the monthly earnings for every major Gacha game. So you know where your favorite game stands in the sea of Gacha – including total downloads.
Do note: This is pertaining to Global earnings and downloads – disregarding other regions (China, Japan, Korea etc.,) and will only feature Mobile earnings (not including PC/console financials.)
#1 honkai star rail
Coming in at #1 is Honkai Star Rail for yet another consecutive month, totaling 1.8 million new downloads and $65 million dollars Globally.
This is down from last month’s $94 million reported Global total – but combining China, and PC earnings, we’re looking at significantly more than $150 million dollars and several million new downloads. This is an absolutely crazy number – and completely eclipsing every single other Gacha game in this list.
In the 3 months Honkai: Star Rail has been online, it has accumulated almost a billion dollars in total revenue and tens of millions of downloads, making it the fastest growing Gacha game in the history of.. well, the entire genre.
#2 Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact still retains the #2 spot, with a total of 3.4 million new downloads and $54 million dollars, between Global and China.
These numbers are very similar to last month’s stats, and it makes sense because people are waiting for Fontaine’s release. And judging by the trailer.. it’s gonna be big. Probably allowing Genshin to retake the #1 spot from Honkai: Star Rail.. but I’m sure Kafka will have something to say about that.
#3 FATE GRAND ORDER
Fate/Grand Order continues to show what an absolute force the Fate franchise is to reckon with, managing to come in at #3, bring in $33 million dollars, and 170,000 new downloads. For reference: Fate/Grand Order made more money than Genshin Impact did if you disregard Genshin’s Chinese revenue.
This is actually up from last month’s $31 million dollars. Absolutely insane.
#4 Uma musume
Uma Musume dethroned NIKKE for #4 this month, bringing in $21 million dollars and 30,000 new downloads in Japan alone. This is down from last month’s $22 million but for a Japanese exclusive release never ceases to amaze any of us. They love their horse Waifu’s.
#5 blue archive
Blue Archive managed to re-secure itself into the top 5 this month, coming in at #5 just barely, managing to pull in $19 million dollars and 260,000 new downloads. This is up quite significantly from last month’s $7.8 million dollars and 180,000 new downloads.
#6 raid: shadow legends
Raid: Shadow Legends, for the first time all year comes in at #6, managing to bring in a whopping $16 million dollars and 700,000 new downloads. This is up from last month’s $14 million dollars.
#7 NIKKE
NIKKE, for the first time since it launched dipped to #7 – although only barely, earning $15 million dollars and 290,000 new downloads. This is down from last month’s $23 million dollars. It has dipped below $20 million before, so this isn’t a sign of its decline.
#8 summoners war
Summoners War somehow managed to secure a top 10 position for the first time all year, coming in at #8 with $12 million dollars and 100,000 new downloads. Up quite a bit from last month’s $9 million dollars.
#9 project sekai
Project Sekai came in at #9 with $10 million dollars and 30,000 new downloads. This is almost exclusively due to Japan, and.. geez, Japan loves their Waifu’s, man. Holy shit. This is roughly on par with last month’s $10.9 million dollars however.
#10 diablo immortal
#10 was taken by none other than Diablo Immortal, which amassed $10 million dollars and 600,000 new downloads across Global and China, down from last month’s $13 million dollars.
#11 arknights
#11 was secured by Arknights, which had a great month, bringing in $10 million dollars and 100,000 new downloads. This is up quite significantly from last month’s $7.9 million dollars.
#12 romancing saga Re:universe
At #12 we have Romancing SaGa Re: Universe, a title not many of you have likely played, yet managed to bring in $8.2 million dollars and 40,000 new downloads. This is down from last month’s $10.2 million, but $8 million of the $8.2 million is from Japan.. with only $200k coming from Global.
#13 epic 7
At #13 we have Epic Seven, managing to obtain a whopping $7 million dollars and 70,000 new downloads. This is roughly on par with last month’s $7 million dollars.
#14 memento mori
Coming in at #14 we have Memento Mori, bringing in $5 million dollars and 50,000 new downloads. This was on par with last month’s $5 million dollars.
#15 7 deadly sins grand cross
The 7 Deadly Sins Grand Cross took the #15 spot, with $4.5 million dollars and 300,000 new downloads. This is admittedly down from last month’s $7.5 million dollars.
#16 brown dust 2
At #16 we actually have a new title, Brown Dust 2. This is one of the more fun Gacha games that I’ve played this year so it’s well deserved, bringing in $4 million dollars and 400,000 new downloads. This is up from the previous month’s $2 million dollars.
#17 heaven burns red
Heaven Burns Red has secured the #17 spot, bringing in a total of 20,000 new downloads and $4 million dollars, this is down from last month’s $7 million dollars and is the lowest it has ever been. This is exclusive to Japan, and is still surprisingly good.
#18 Takt. op Symphony
#18 was secured by Takt. op Symphony, which brought in $40 million dollars and 600,000 new downloads. This likely would’ve seen a higher gross had it launched earlier, but is still relatively impressive due to its niche nature.
#19 dragon quest champions
Dragon Quest Champions comes in at #19 with $3.9 million dollars and 60,000 new downloads. This is down from last month’s $9 million dollars and a very alarming drop given it has only been out for less than 2 whole months. It is a Japanese exclusive currently, though.
#20 azur lane
And finally, coming in at #20 is Azur Lane with $3 million dollars and 40,000 new downloads. Down from last month’s $5.5 million dollars but by no means a small amount.
And that makes up the top 20 Gacha games in terms of downloads and earnings for the last month. I’m sure some of you are as surprised as I am with a few of the games listed here today.
Honkai Star Rail absolutely destroyed every single Gacha game this month, surprising absolutely noone except maybe the group of haters.
Tower of Fantasy didn’t make it into the top 10, top 20, top 30.. perhaps top 50 this month, and saw its lowest earning month to date – for the 7th month in a row, just breaking $1 million dollars earned Globally. It has declined every single month for the entire year, which means next month we’re looking at an $800k to $900k financial return.
Aether Gazer dipped from $1.8 million to $600k, which is a little scary for the game. How King’s Raid manages to remain online earning only $29k Globally amazes me. EverSoul saw a nice increase to over a million dollars, for the second month in a row which is a good sign.
Path to Nowhere is bringing in $500k Globally, Punishing Gray Raven is managing $1.3 million Globally, Neural Cloud is at.. $140k, its lowest month yet, Higan: Eruthyll at $60k.
It’s been a fascinating month, honestly, and I can’t wait for next month to see how the games continue to shift.
